Valery Homes horrible customer service We bought house from Valery Homes, Burlington, Ontario. More than 30 repair items and it's almost 4 months. Some Items were fixed. Missed quite a few appointments. Did not respect selected interior and exterior package during registration. Different items after delivery. Very poor customer service. I had to send tons of emails and phone calls to get few items fixed. Their design centre committed different features of materials than what was ultimately presented. When we claim for the promised material to be placed both design centre and Valery office consistently lied. Trades people from Valery come to fix warranty items, they give full effort to convince the home owner that it is normal to have this kind of problems as it is a new home. Most times they try to give stories. If we ask Valery Homes office, they always try to pass the buck on "trades". I had to tell them I do not know any trades. We bought the house from you and you should respect your warranty. We feel like we made a big mistake in buying a home from Valery Homes. This is our 3rd house and this situation was beyond our imagination.

Filed complaint at Tarion against Valery Homes

The fact is Ted Valery's father, the original founder was behind all the reputation of Valery Homes. Once the management handed over to Ted Valery (I heard 1/2 years ago) their reputation went down the drain. Ted Valery has become famous to be an arrogant personality with very poor knowledge and no expertise to run this company.

I strongly believe that authorities should revoke the license from this builder immediately. Most Valery owners I have spoken to, are hiring lawyer/building consultant to take this guy to court for settlements.

If you like the design of Valery homes (like I did) don't buy from them directly. Buy an older house as the owner has already taken the pain to get things fixed by these people.

Home Inspection should be done before 1 year

I have escalated mine to Tarion. I think everyone should take appropriate action. I am also deciding on doing a home inspection by someone reliable (and not builder's agent) jointly with some of my neighbours before '1 year' Tarion. No item should be missed. I keep all my communications with Valery Homes...so far it has reached more that 60 and the year is not over yet.

Every time I send them a list of items which is still more than 20, they send their so called inspector and he gives me some stories and I guess sends the information to Valery office. So my week day time is wasted and after that rarely any action. I don't blame the inspector, I guess he is just following his pre-defined job.

Pretty much everything Valery does is incomplete and lack of workmanship. I am now calculating total weekday hours I have provided them to fix and estimate my loss of time which I hope to bill them later.

Authorities should set up serious investigation on this company.

VALERY HOMES = HORRIBLE BUILDER

Why don't we all get together and contact the Consumer Editor of the Hamilton Spectator?  You will see just how fast Valery Homes rights their wrongs. Our house has been a complete disaster, I can't agree with all of you any more.  Their customer service is disgusting, their handyman hacks his way in and out, their bosses are the most non personable / miserable people I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with, they have trades doing other trades work, they can't even answer your questions because they don't seem to know anything about what you are asking, the owner is a complete cheap, jerk off, their finishing trades are a disgrace, and the entire company's overall workmanship is just very, very poor.  This company's license should be revoked.  Mickey mouse idiots.Just for all of you who do not understand the Tarion Warranty program.  If you are not satisfied with the repairs they have made on any of your 30 day items, or year end items for that matter, you can conciliate with Tarion after the 30 day repair period timeline has elapsed ( ended ).  They always get 30 days to correct the problems, all you have to do is let them in to make the repairs and I say do it.  If you do not like the repairs, say nothing, just conciliate.  If Tarion finds at least one of your items warranted, you will not even be required to give them the cheque for $50.  If at least one item is warranted, it goes against Valery's record... everytime.  It gets classified as a chargeable conciliation.  Too many chargeable conciliations and the builder will find his insurance rates skyrocketing and Tarion will begin to watch them more and more... If it becomes too much, Tarion has the right to revoke their license, making them no more, so be resilient. My two cents.  Fight for what is right, protect your investment... And for god's sake, read your Homeowner Tarion Information Package!  What you do not know, you will find in there!

Keep n mind your time frames

When you're emailing your builder let them know that you are keeping track of their 120 day time limit for issues on your 30 Day list. All builders have 120 days, as per Tarion, to complete to your satisfaction, any necesssary repairs listed on your warranty lists. The 120 day starts from the day of submission to Tarion. After 120 days you have a 30 day window in which to request Tarion's assistance. The builder will be notified and then receive another 30 days. If after 30 days you are still having issues you can then request a concilliation. There is a $50 fee required and an inspector will be sent out by Tarion. If the Tarion inspector decides in your favor for just one issue on you list then the $50 fee is refunded. Send a email reminding your builder that you're aware of these deadlines and procedures and fully intend to proceed if necessary. You should probably start to see some action. The PDI Guywww.thepdiguy.com

Thanks for the info PDI Guy.

Thanks for the info PDI Guy. Lot of my 30 day items and PDI items are still pending after 6 months of closing. I am going to call Tarion. I thought Tarion's inspector fee is non refundable. We already paid Tarion fee during closing. But if they refund on the right issue I understand. I hear from all around that Tarion primarily works for builder and rarely home owner's issue get resolved. Too bad. I will take a try.

Valery Home Not Flexible

I aggree with you Fix-it.We were delayed in selling our previous house. We requested Valery to delay closing for a month and explained to him that we are in dire straits and we need his help with time. Valery proposed to charge us about $1200 per week for every week of delay. This was very frustrating. We had only 2 weeks left to close at that time. We considered this to be unjustifiable and decided not to extend even for a day. We were lucky by the grace of God and we sold the house in a week with extended marketing on our part. Therefore, we did not had to pay this huge penalty to Valery. It was a nightmare. If anyone is within any kind of timeline, the above incident will work as a warning. Valery Home is not at all flexible in any way. We are still having tons of problems with them in fixing our warranty items. Real pain.

Valery homes Poor Customer service

Hello folks,It was interesting to see the discussion as I have been having some tough time dealing with this builder to honor the warranty nerver mind the preclosing hiccups we had. I was not surprised to hear your concerns and sounds the customer service person at valery homes has the same lines of excuse for every home owner. My first 30 day warranty work has not been touched for 30 days past reporting. I have to keep reminding them of this and the answer from valery home is " We dont know why the trades people are not calling, we have sent the work order". One the trades man said they dont show up as the valery homes dont pay them as the other builders. The quality of the work the company handyman ("called the building inspector") does is horrible. I think the builder should be reported to the Tarrion Corp for the way they are handling the warranty calls. Hope they have started doing some good job after the Ontario obudsman report about Tarrion. Thanks

I agree. I don't think Valery

I agree. I don't think Valery is meeting deadline for any home owners. I hear the same story from my neighbours. I believe this is just harassment and the Government should interfere and penalize builders like Valery homes.
